2.Physical Measurement Test (PMT),

Note : The weight range against such heights which are not included in the above chart will be considered as per following 

logic.

The weight range of the candidates having a height greater than 160 cms. and less than 161 cms. will be considered against the 

weight range of 160 cms. and that for the candidates having a height greater than 161 cms. and less than 162 cms. will be 

considered against the weight range meant for 162 cms. Same logic shall be applicable for all the intermediate heights which are 

shown in the above Height-weight ratio chart.

F. Must qualify the following Physical Efficiency Tests : -

Constable

Long distance run - 1600 metres in 

maximum 6 minutes 30 seconds

2. Female candidates for the post of 

Excise Constable

Long distance run - 400 metres in 

maximum two minutes.

G. Persons with types of disabilities as contemplated under the provisions of the Rights of Persons with 

Disabilities Act, 2016 (Act 49 of 2016) are not eligible to apply for the posts of Excise Constable (including 

Lady Excise Constables) in the subordinate Excise service under Finance Department Govt. of West Bengal, 

2019.

4. METHOD OF RECRUI
TMENT :-

A. Preliminary Written Test (Full Marks - 100) : -

Applicants provisionally considered eligible will have to appear in an MCQ based preliminary written test 

which is qualifying in nature. There would be 100 objective type questions having multip
le choice (four 

choices) of answers carrying equal marks each. The duration of this test will be 1(one) hour. The 

competence of a candidate in Bengali/ Nepali will also be tested at this test. Questions for Preliminary

Written Test except those meant for Bengali/ Nepali language will be set in three languages (Bengali, 

Nepali & English). Questions of the Preliminary Written Test shall be from the following subjects :-

i. Test of language (Bengali/ Nepali) : 50 Marks

ii. General Awareness & Reasoning : 50 Marks

Note :- There will be NEGATIVE marking for each wrong answer. ¼th of the allotted marks for a particular 

question will be deducted for each wrong answer. West Bengal Police Recruitment Board will decide the prescribed 

scheme and syllabus for the Preliminary Written Test. The qualifying marks in the Preliminary Written Test to appear 

for the next stage will be fixed by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The marks obtained by a candidate in 

the preliminary written test will not be considered for preparing final merit list.

B.WBP  PHYSICAL MEASUREMENT TEST (PMT) :-

The physical standards (height and weight) of the candidates who will qualify in the Preliminary Written 

Test will be tested by using Electronic Machines following criteria mentioned under 3E.

C. WBP PHYSICAL EFFICIENCY TEST (PET) :-

Candidates who qualify in PMT will be allowed to take part in PET as given under 3F.
